Making A Living From Your Creativity And Passion
Of the many craft people I personally know, I can count on one hand the number who can honestly say they have actually made a good living out of the craft industry. These are the people that have set out with the knowledge that there is more to making a business work than just being creative. They were prepared to sacrifice their time and money in the pursuit of their dream. They went in with their eyes wide open and it was not enough to simply believe that if they made things they will sell because in the real world of business it just doesn’t happen and never will.

In the over 2000 new start up businesses I have personally assessed, 95% were craft businesses who believed wholeheartedly, with enormous passion, they had what it took to turn their hobby or craft into a business. However, it didn’t take long before negativity; self doubt and lack of funds take their toll.   Many set out with the belief that their creativity was enough to make their passion work for them.

Less than 200 people actually survived their first year and only 10% of those left went on to see year 3 in business.

The main consideration that this group of people had to take on board was to recognize that it wasn’t simply enough that a product sold well at a fair, fete or festival and to friends and family, but how it would fare outside of these circles? Was there a demand?  Could the product be reproduced many hundreds of times with the same quality as the first? Will this repetition result in a lack of interest in the product, and ultimately the business?  And as the business owner, manager, marketing guru, salesperson, finance officer, designer, creator, manufacturer, not to mention husband or wife, father or mother, does any one person have the stamina to take on such an enormous task?

Undertaking a feasibility study and business plan is absolutely vital if these questions are going to be answered.

Unfortunately, many people involved in craft today who want to start up in their own business tend to walk around with blinkers on, and for who knows what reason, truly believe that feasibility studies and business plans are not for them, that’s for other businesses types.  Well, I am sorry to have to say that in the area of craft, it is probably more important than in any other area of small and micro business as the competition for the craft dollar is so extremely fierce. You need only research the word craft on the Internet through Google (104,000,000 only one search engine) to realize you are facing a major uphill battle to survive and grow.

My recommendation is that if you are interested in starting a serious business involving your favorite craft then ask yourself the hard questions and work through a feasibility study relating to craft (not specifically the craft that you excel in) and write a business plan.

It’s not writing the business plan alone that tells the story but the journey undertaken that will determine the outcome. If you conduct a thorough feasibility study you will gain the information for your business plan which in turn will tell you whether you should go into or even continue to be in business.

I personally guarantee that you will save many countless sleepless nights, lots of wasted money and gain a better insight into your potential craft business if you undertake this journey.

 Promoting your Networking Business
I have set my own totally free training site up to show you as many different places as possible where you can promote any opportunity you are involved with. I will keep adding to the list and I will be constantly updating the site with training and motivational links that will help you develop personally to a position where building your home based business will become second nature.

Please use as many promotional sites as you can, remember branding yourself is everything and the more you are noticed, the more your business and reputation will develop.

Be consistant in your efforts and always be positive in your outlook. No matter what opportunity you are promoting, as long as the company, the product and the compensation plan is good then you have a good chance of making it as long as you stay with them and don't jump from one opportunity to the next. This will just doom you to failure.
Listen to the audio trainings read the e-books and stay focused. They are all free, highly instructive and motivational.

Top 5 Reasons Why You Need To Use Article Marketing
Whether you run a business totally online, or you operate a brick-and-mortar business and have a supplemental website, you need to implement article marketing. If you aren't marketing your business with articles, you're missing a huge chunk of the marketing pie. Let me give you a few reasons why.

Reason #1: Article marketing is free. Every business owner knows that advertising isn't cheap. Every newspaper or magazine ad you run costs you dearly. By spending just a little extra time writing and submitting several articles each month, you'll save quite a bit of money. Best yet, article marketing doesn't cost you a dime--just a few hours every week.

Reason #2: Article marketing brands your business. Have you ever wondered how some businesses seem to become so well known in such a short amount of time? They're getting their name out there. They're giving away something of value for free to their potential customers. Your articles will brand your business and make it a well-known name.

Reason #3: Article marketing makes you an expert. If you write articles about the subjects you know well, you'll quickly become known as an expert in your field. Do you run a website on bird watching? Writing and submitting fifty articles on bird watching will show people that you know what you're talking about.

Reason #4: Article marketing teaches you how to relate to people. You can't write a bunch of articles without learning how to communicate effectively. The more you write, the more you'll learn how to get your message across in a friendly, personal tone.

Reason #5: Article marketing creates back links to your website. Without getting into the technical details of this, back links to your website are good and you'll want lots of them. Back links help boost your rankings in the search engines, thus gaining more exposure for your website.

Remember that article marketing isn't the cure-all answer to advertising your business; it's one piece of the pie. You also can't submit a handful of articles one time and expect to see results.

Article marketing requires persistence and patience. You should plan to spend a certain number of hours each week writing and submitting articles to promote your business. Pencil in this time faithfully and stick to it. Within a few months (maybe even a few short weeks!), you'll begin to see the results of your hard work pay off.
