A simple description of PowerPoint is a presentation management program. Like so many of the other Microsoft programs it is a whole lot more. This article will give you an overview of the main features of the program.1. Slides
The whole program is based around creating Slides. There are many different slide types in PowerPoint. Some use text, others use video and sound. There are over 15 different pre-defined slide types to choose from or you can create your own combinations.
Slide Types Include Text: Title slide and bulleted lists
Pictures: Clip Art and Photo's
Video: many file formats supported
Sound: Both sound effects, music and speech
Graphs and Tables: Similar to Excel
Org Charts: Show structure, levels and relationships.
2. Auto Content
To help you get started Microsoft give you a number of preset content types. The idea is that after choosing the type of presentation you want to do (Sales, Management, etc.) you can just fill in the information you want to present. The slides take you logically through the presentation and give you hints on how to set-up and present your speech.
3. Design Template
If you know what you want to present, you can start by choosing a 'Look' to your presentation. These include colour schemes and backgrounds. There are some really interesting options with animation and special effects. It is a quick way to make your presentation look great.
4. Animation
Once you have create a slide and set the formatting you can animate the different parts on it (Text, Pictures, etc.). There are preset animations like text flying across the screen with the sound of a car breaking. This can be a lot of fun.
5. Transition
You have created a slide, formatted it and animated the parts, now you can animate the transition between slides. You could have one fade to black and then onto the next slide or you can have one slide over the last slide. There are over 30 slide transitions.....Click here for access to the rest of this article ->
